Terms of Service

Welcome to Gamebase. These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of the Gamebase platform and services. By creating an account or using Gamebase, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the service.

1. The Service

Gamebase is a platform that helps indie game developers create landing pages, press kits, news feeds, and custom pages for their games. The service includes importing game data from Steam, a visual page editor, asset management, and site publishing.

2. Accounts

To use Gamebase, you must sign in with a Google account. You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account and for all activity that occurs under it. Each account belongs to a "Studio", which is the account that owns your games on Gamebase.

You must provide accurate information when creating your account and keep it up to date. We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms.

3. Acceptable Use

You agree not to use Gamebase to:

  • Publish content that is illegal, harmful, threatening, abusive, defamatory, or otherwise objectionable
  • Infringe on the intellectual property rights of others, including publishing games or content you do not have the right to distribute
  • Impersonate another person or entity, or misrepresent your affiliation with a game or studio
  • Attempt to gain unauthorized access to the service, other accounts, or our systems
  • Use the service to distribute malware, spam, or phishing content
  • Interfere with or disrupt the service or servers connected to it
  • Scrape, crawl, or use automated means to access the service without our written permission

4. Your Content

You retain ownership of all content you create or upload to Gamebase, including landing page configurations, custom pages, news posts, press kit materials, and uploaded assets. By publishing content through Gamebase, you grant us a non-exclusive, royalty-free, worldwide license to host, display, and distribute that content as part of operating the service.

You are responsible for ensuring you have the necessary rights to any content you publish, including game assets imported from Steam or uploaded directly. If you import data from Steam, you must comply with Steam's terms of use regarding that content.

5. Steam Data

Gamebase allows you to import game metadata from Steam. This data is synced periodically. We are not affiliated with Valve Corporation or Steam. You are responsible for ensuring you have the right to use the game data you import.

6. Service Tiers and Billing

Gamebase offers a free tier and paid subscription tiers. The free tier is available indefinitely and includes core functionality. Paid tiers unlock additional features and higher limits. See our pricing page for current details.

If you subscribe to a paid tier, billing is handled through Stripe. You agree to pay all fees associated with your chosen tier. We may change pricing with 30 days' notice. If you cancel a paid subscription, you will retain access to paid features until the end of your billing period, after which your account will revert to the free tier.

7. Published Sites

When you publish a game site through Gamebase, it becomes publicly accessible on a Gamebase subdomain or your custom domain. You are responsible for the content of your published sites. We reserve the right to unpublish sites that violate these Terms.

By default, Gamebase blocks AI training bots from crawling your published sites. This setting can be adjusted in your game's configuration.

8. Availability and Changes

We aim to keep Gamebase available and reliable, but we do not guarantee uninterrupted access. We may modify, suspend, or discontinue features of the service at any time. We will make reasonable efforts to notify you of significant changes that affect your use of the service.

9. Termination

You may delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate your account if you violate these Terms, if your account is inactive for an extended period, or if we discontinue the service. Upon termination, your published sites will be taken offline and your data will be deleted within 30 days, unless we are required to retain it by law.

10. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Gamebase is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. We are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from your use of the service, including loss of data, revenue, or business opportunities.

Our total liability for any claim arising from these Terms or your use of the service is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim, or $100, whichever is greater.

11. Intellectual Property

The Gamebase name, logo, and service are owned by us. These Terms do not grant you any right to use our branding without written permission. All rights not explicitly granted in these Terms are reserved.

12. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by posting a notice on our website or sending you an email. Your continued use of Gamebase after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
